Klerksdorp rocked by shootings

Date: 06 Sep 2006
A man allegedly shot and wounded his wife and a friend in the early hours yesterday before turning the gun on himself in another multiple shooting in Klerksdorp, North West. Abe Muller, 45, shot himself as police arrived at his brother-in-law’s home in the suburb of Flimieda. Muller died at the scene. His wife, Juliana, 40, and a friend of hers, Johan Lubbe, 42, were locked in a room in the house while his brother-in-law tried to calm Muller and disarm him, shortly before the police arrived. Juliana had been shot in the face and Lubbe in his right shoulder. They had fled inside after Muller followed them out into the street as they were leaving the house at about 1am yesterday. Lubbe was shot as he was sitting in his bakkie. “It is suspected that there were marital problems between Muller and his wife,: said Superintendent Louis Jacobs of the Mooi River area police. Klerksdorp was rocked earlier this week by the death of former mayor Jaycee Nxamakela, his wife and two children in an apparent murder and suicide. By Cathy Thomason The Citizen 06/09/06
