A Pretoria man who was alleged to have indecently assaulted 10 young girls in an area west of the city appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
John Christodoulos, 38, was in the dock to face a charge of indecent assault. He was remanded in custody until March 16.
Christodoulos was arrested on Monday for questioning in connection with the disappearance of seven-year-old Sheldean Human.
Police spokesman Captain Julia Claassen said it had emerged during questioning that the suspect had allegedly previously assaulted young girls around Pretoria Gardens.
“We are waiting for forensic results before we charge him with the kidnapping of Sheldean,” she said.
Sheldean’s mother, Elize, said she believed her daughter was alive.
Meanwhile, thousand of youngsters and adults will wear blue denim jeans or skirts with ink shirts today in honour of Sheldean, who was wearing such an outfit when she went missing on February 18. She had been playing in the front garden of her home in Pretoria Gardens. When her mother went to look for her at around 6pm she had vanished. The police are still searching for her.
