Shooting spree in Bryanston

Date: 12 Dec 2006
A man was shot and killed and another one injured when armed robbers went on a shooting spree in Bryanston, northern Johannesburg, last night. It is believed the two gunmen gained entrance to their first victim’s house by jumping over the fence, after which they shot him dead. He had been sitting in his back yard at the time of the attack, and the suspects fled with only a stolen cellphone. ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said the man was declared dead when paramedics arrived at the scene minutes later. “As the paramedics were leaving they heard several gunshots from a complex about two blocks from where the first incident occurred,” Vermaak said. Police were notified about the attack. A man who had been working in his garage at the complex said the two suspects approached him and fired several shots at him. He was injured in the face when they threw him to the ground before fleeing. Nothing was stolen from him and no one else was injured during that attack. By Francois du Plessis The Citizen 12/12/06
