Matek Security Solutions is a security and investigation company co- founded in 2016 by Maureen and Trevor Kayster, an experienced former police detective captain and police warrant officer respectively, with a police history of 50 years of service.
What gives Matek Security Solutions the edge over other security companies is our vast operational
and managerial experience acquired during our service in SAPS. Both Maureen and Trevor Kayster
had been involved in the safeguarding of the late president Nelson Mandela’s home in Bishops
Court, as well as the premises of various ministers. Maureen and Trevor are both from
disadvantaged communities. They’re also familiar with PFMA, Basic Conditions of Employment
Act, and Labour Act. Maureen Kayster likes reading and in particular law and amendments to it.
In the current political climate, with increasing fears of criminal activity, youth unemployment, and
the current economic climate, which promises an upswing in general and in outsourced services
especially, this business launched at the right time. It is their experience that the South African
Police Service struggle to keep up with caseloads, resulting in reported criminal cases not being
investigated properly, leaving complainants / victims vulnerable and frustrated.
Furthermore crime is a serious issue in South Africa that affect businesses of every size, regardless
