OPPOSITION parties have called for further investigation into the lucrative catering contract awarded to Nonkululeko Mhlongo, who has two children with President Jacob Zuma.
This was the second woman in the president's life to appear in the spotlight this week.
It was also reported that the lavish lifestyle of Zuma's second wife, Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma, is being bankrolled by generous benefactors.
Yesterday, in the Mhlongo saga, IFP spokesman Roman Liptak confirmed that the party had sent a letter to the standing committee on public accounts requesting that the matter be investigated further.
"What we find particularly distasteful is that the legislature tried to mislead the public.
"We want a full breakdown," he said.
The matter was first raised two weeks ago when the IFP and DA questioned the multi-million-rand contract awarded to Mhlongo's company, Bucebo General Trading.
DA caucus leader John Steenhuisen slammed the massive overexpenditure on catering - R19 million - incurred by the legislature.
The 11th-hour intervention by Zuma benefactor Erwin Ullbricht, to renegotiate the lease for an eight-bedroom Durban mansion occupied by MaNtuli, was also highlighted by the media this week.
Ullbricht confirmed that he and other business people pay for some of MaNtuli's expenses, including rent, garden services, electricity and water.
And it isn't the first time he has forked out to help the president.
Described as a friend of Zuma's "for many years", Parliament's register of members' interests lists Ullbricht as the person who paid for a lavish party for Zuma several years ago. He is also believed to have contributed to Zuma's 65th birthday party.
The media questions regarding MaNtuli's lifestyle received an angry response from presidential spokesman Vincent Magwenya. He said reporting on the president's private life and his family bordered on contempt of his constitutional rights.
"It goes beyond the boundaries of objective journalism," he said.
