TOYOTA South Africa will "definitely" recall its Auris, the new-generation Verso and Corolla, but it was not known which ranges of these models will be recalled, pending a technical study outcome.
The three car makes were isolated last week as part of a study of all the vehicles that are sold in South Africa as the car maker recalls millions of its vehicles globally due to a defective accelerator pedal.
Toyota South Africa spokesman Leo Kok said they would know early this week which versions of the Auris, the new-generation Verso and Corolla would be recalled to fix the problem.
"We're not sure if the accelerator pedal is the problem, but vehicles will still be recalled to pre-empt the problem," Kok said.
"At this point, owners can relax, as it would only be specific-model ranges that will be recalled. Although it is unlikely that other models will be recalled, they are all being investigated."
Kok said Toyota SA was reviewing models it produces, imports or exports, as well as designs or parts that overlap with foreign counterparts.
